DJ Hank’s American Cousin

In the past you may remember I’ve posted some videos by DJ Hank, who looks a little bit like me. Well, I’ve just discovered a video by someone who could well be his American cousin – there is certainly something about them that seems very similar and they seem to face the same kind of problems.

I believe the video was created by Mike, a DJ from Sacramento, who runs a company called Mr D.J. Service CLICK HERE to go to his website and see all the fabulous things he does.

Adam & Fern @ The Clock Barn

Last week saw my first visit to The Clock Barn – what a stunning venue! It’s located on the outskirts of Whitchurch on Tufton Warren Farm, about 5 minutes from the A34 and 15 minutes from Winchester and Newbury. The service and attention to detail provided by Helen, Emma, and the Clock Barn team was fantastic.

Once again I provided music for the ceremony, you can see my laptop and controller at the back of the room (but you can’t see the speaker). Fern’s Bridal party entered to Bryan Adam’s “Everything I Do”, and newlyweds Adam and Fern made their exit to the chorus of Florence & The Machines version of “You’ve Got The Love”.

After the ceremony the guests went outside for photos with Lee, their photographer, then back into the barn for drinks before being seated for the speeches and wedding breakfast.

After the meal the Bride and Groom took to the dance-floor for their first dance, “Chasing Cars” by Snow Patrol.

Then the party began! I’d suggested to Fern and Adam to start a “music for our wedding” group on FaceBook for their guests and we had plenty of suggestions. We’d sat down a couple of weeks before the big day to sift through all the posts and decided what should be included, the results were fabulous and we had a great mix of rock, pop and dance. For later in the evening Adam and Fern had suggested a rave party set and they broke out the glow sticks for tracks by artists including The Chemical Brothers, Pendulum and Kasabian.

The night ended with everyone on the floor for Arcade Fire’s “Wake Up” and Kings Of Leon’s “Sex On Fire” – and all of this on a Thursday night in rural Hampshire! Thanks to Adam, Fern, their family and friends and the team at The Clock Barn for a really great day.

Martin & Sarah

On Friday it was my pleasure to DJ for Martin and Sarah’s wedding at the delightful Royal Hotel in Winchester. It was my first time at the hotel, and we were in the Darials Room on the first floor which has a separate dance area in a converted loft which is up a few steps.

Martin and Sarah were married in the nearby Winchester Cathedral. Martin’s family are from Germany and the couple went to great lengths to ensure translations were made throughout the day. They also provided me with an extensive playlist of music in English and German which I mixed in with requests from their guests who certainly had the loft rocking!

All Change ~ oops!

So here’s what’s happened …
The new website is up and looking great – thanks everyone for your feedback and support – so then I go and spend a lot of money to switch to the Pioneer play-out system, improve the sound with a new, more compact and less intrusive speaker system, and change the basic look of the show to be even more elegant and discrete … making many of the photo’s on the new website out of date – clever huh!

Seriously, I’ve been working on a more compact show for a while, and now that alternative is available, so you have a choice. I can now provide a set-up which takes up less space and looks less like a traditional disco set-up, or my original show which looks larger and more imposing.

Here’s the new set-up at the Royal Winchester Hotel

and here’s what we had before at the Moorhill House Hotel

It may not look an awful lot different, basically the new stand is about 2/3rd’s of the size and looses the overhead bar. You’ll get to see more in future posts, and over the coming weeks I’ll hopefully get some more professional photos for the website. Any questions ~ just get in touch.
