Saturday night was great fun. The event was Carly and Christopher’s engagement party at the excellent Roddington Forge. It was also a chance for Joe to come along and play Tag-Team on the decks. We had a fine time mixing some classic hip-hop, dance anthems, current floor-fillers and a few cheesy tracks from back in the day that went down almost too well!
All together now … “Get on up when you’re down
Baby, take a good look around
I know it’s not much, but it’s okay
Keep on moving on anyway”
Looks like we are going to be buying the DDJ~S1. It really is a lovely controller and I’ve certainly taken to it better than the other two we have in the house.
Here’s the second video in our Control Freaks series. Again, it is probably only of interest to other DJ’s and gadget-junkies.
It was filmed on Saturday morning straight after the last one.
This video is for DJ’s and anyone interested in the new Pioneer DDJ Serato Itch controller. The Party DJ have been loaned a Pioneer DDJ-S1 for 14 days and see what it does and what it can do for us as part of the Pioneer Control Freak promotion.
We found out about this promotion from Jonathan, the DJ Tutor at www.djtutor.com
DJ Tutor is a fabulous resource for DJ’s of all abilities from beginners through to professionals with product reviews, tips, business advise and competitions from Jonathan and his friends around the World.
So, on Saturday 4th June 2011 at just after 8am, a courier delivered two packages – this video is the unboxing of that delivery. It’s video two in the series – more to follow.
The track used on this video is Janet Jackson’s Control, the title track from her classic 1986 album. This song is available to download legally, so why not buy it today. The full 5:53 original track is just 99p from iTunes, or for £7.99 you can download the 38 track “The Best” album including Control.
AND if you love classic Soul Disco Jazz and Funk then check out Gold Hampshire, a project I have with fellow DJ Stevie Q. We have a weekly internet radio show and podcast that is played out on JFSR and Disco 935 – here’s some more links …

It’s catch up time! There are quite a few things to come out of “Party DJ Towers” in the next few days, so keep checking back.
First up a gig-log from Joe who did a 21st last week for Rachel and Becky. It was held at the new Totton Sports Club (formerly B.A.T.). It was our first visit – what a fabulous venue! CLICK HERE to go to the Totton Sports Club website. There was a very good turn out of family and friends, and Joe kept the dance floor busy all night.
As you may know we talk to DJ’s all over the World and watch their YouTube videos. Here’s a track that gets featured in lots of videos from America at functions for all ethnic groups – The Cupid Shuffle by Cupid.
BONUS POINTS if you turn up at one of our gigs and ask for this track and teach everybody the dance.
It’s on iTunes, so why not download it today and start practising.
Cupid has a new tune with a new dance coming soon – watch this space!
