On Tuesday I finally got to see one of my childhood heroes. The Beatles were a huge influence on my early years and, sharing the same first name, Paul was my favourite back in the day.
I had many of the early singles, certainly by the time I was eight in 1965 my parents were getting me them as they were released. I also remember very clearly December 1968 Christmas shopping with them in the record department of Edwin Jones trying to decide whether to have a mono or stereo copy of the White album with them debating if I should be allowed an album that included tracks called ‘Sexie Sadie’ and ‘Why Don’t We Do It In The Road’ – I was.
I have three friends who I was at college with who now live currently abroad, they all saw the tour in different venues earlier in the year (New York, Cincinnati and Rio De Janeiro) and I never though I’d get the opportunity to go. When the UK dates were announced back in October I expected the dates to clash with my work commitments but was delighted when my daughter told me she had managed to get tickets for us for the last night of the tour in Liverpool.
The show was fantastic. These pictures were taken by my daughter Amy.
